Septoplasty

Breathe Easier With Expert Nasal Surgery
A deviated septum can cause ongoing nasal congestion, breathing difficulties, snoring, and recurrent sinus problems. Septoplasty is a surgical procedure that straightens the nasal septum, improving airflow and relieving these symptoms.

Performed by Dr. Schneiderman with precision and care, this procedure helps patients breathe easier, sleep better, and experience lasting relief from chronic nasal obstruction.

What Is Septoplasty?

Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a deviated nasal septum. When the septum is misaligned, it can obstruct airflow, causing:
  • Difficulty breathing through the nose
  • Snoring or loud breathing
  • Mouth breathing and dry mouth
  • Facial pressure or frequent sinus infections

The Septoplasty Procedure

  • Performed under general anesthesia
  • Internal incisions only—no external scars
  • Cartilage and bone are repositioned
  • Internal splints may be placed for healing

In some cases, septoplasty is performed alongside:

  • Rhinoplasty (cosmetic nose reshaping)
  • Sinus surgery

Recovery and Aftercare

  • Minimal bruising of septoplasty is done alone
  • Swelling and bruising may last 1–2 weeks if combined with rhinoplasty

Post-op Instructions:

  • Avoid strenuous activities
  • Do not blow your nose
  • Sleep with your head elevated

Risks

As with any surgery, there are risks:
  • Nasal bleeding
  • Infection
  • Septal perforation
  • Temporary numbness in teeth or gums
